REV. DR. CHRIS PRITCHETT
Senior Pastor / Head of Staff
Rev. Dr.
Chris Pritchett began serving at Mount Olympus in June 2020, at the beginning
of the Coronavirus Pandemic. Prior to moving to Salt Lake, Chris served as Executive
Director of the Pro Deo Foundation, a family-based Christian non-profit that
serves children and youth in high-risk environments in Southern California and
in Kenya. Chris holds degrees from Westmont College, Fuller, Princeton, and
Portland Theological Seminaries. Trained as a Presbyterian Minister (PCUSA),
Chris has served congregations in Southern California and Washington, most
recently as Senior Pastor of John Knox Presbyterian Church in Seattle.
Chris
also served for five years as a Trustee and a member of the Board of Directors
for the Henri Nouwen Society in Toronto, and he currently serves on the Board
of Directors for the Pro Deo Foundation in Southern California.
Following
the teaching of Father Richard Rohr, Chris completed his Men’s Rite of Passage
in the Northern Cascade Mountains in Washington State in 2017. He has since
participated in the Living School with the Center for Action and Contemplation,
and enjoys guiding others into contemplation.
As a
survivor of Stage III Testicular Cancer, Chris’ passion and life commitment
come from the simple opening line of a Mary Oliver poem: My work is loving
the world. He is co-author of “On Retreat with Henri Nouwen: Engaging
Life’s Big Questions,” published by Twenty-Third Publications in 2021 and
translated into Spanish and Korean.
Chris
and his wife, Devon, have three children: Hannah, Abby, and Lucas. Together, they
enjoy an active and outdoor lifestyle in the beautiful mountains and valleys
around the Great Salt Lake.
